So, the latest Reborn chapter is like. Pretty much one big "WHAAAAAAAAAAT" after another. I have not made so many boggly faces at a chapter since who knows when. I'm still too floored to really post anything of substance, so this is mostly just a reaction post.
IF YOU HAVEN'T READ THE
SPOILERS OR CAUGHT UP TO THE LATEST CHAPTER YET, STOP READING HERE. Seriously. I mean, this isn't quite "Snape kills Dumbledore", but for KHR it's about as close as it gets.
In chronological order, which also happens to be order of increasing wtfery:
1. Tsuna arrives in front of the round device when Irie and the Cervello appear behind him.
He's holding Tsuna's friends as hostages.
Irie?: I put them alseep with sleeping gas in a place surrounded by Nanocomposit walls so they couldn't escape.
Uh, what. He did this when? And he apparently took down Hibari and Kusakabe (KUSAKABE?!!) like they were nothing, on top of that. You know, this is just another one of those godmodey things that bad guys are allowed to get away with without question. If it had been a good guy, we'd all be like, "BUT WHEN DID HE--?!" But since it's Irie, everyone's just, "Oh okay looks like he got them." It's cool, we all just accept that somehow he's just that on top of things.
But seriously, that was some abrupt kidnapping.
(As an aside, since Gokudera apparently just woke up without any ill effects, implying that his earlier condition was due more to exhaustion than injuries, I am going to officially declare him the winner of that fight with Gamma. SHH THIS IS IMPORTANT TO ME.)
2. Irie?: "Inside this device are your selves from this time." and Irie describes/depicts 10 people. They're actually reduced to molecular level and preserved inside.
WHAAAAAAAAAT.
Okay, I seriously can't even begin to say how weird that is. At least it finally explains the "malfunction" of the 10-year-bazooka, though. The reason they didn't swap back after five minutes was because they were being held by in that machine in MOLECULAR FORM h-haha what.
Also, interesting to note that the spaces for Mukuro and Ryohei
are still blank. And interesting to note that there are spaces for them. Why are there ten spaces, anyway? That means that Kyoko, Haru, and I-Pin were also targeted despite not being guardians. I'd just been assuming they were caught up in the crossfire. Figures that just when we finally start to get some answers we also get even more questions.
ETA:
sandrock pointed out that the "blank" spaces probably represent Tsuna and Reborn, since they were also bazookaed but are, er, dead. Which makes perfect sense. Whoops. XD
3. The one who shot everyone with the 10 year bazooka and brought them to this time was Irie.
I KNEW IT!!!!!11
"The me of 10 years ago could use this time's box weapons and technology, so I shot you with the 10 year bazooka."
Though that part, I did not quite expect. But still!
4. The reason is: "For Byakuran-san to be able to destroy the world in his hands and make a new world, he needed the Vongola Rings."
7^3's ores are the cornerstones that created this world. The Arcobaleno sacrificed themselves because they were ordered to protect 7^3.
Finally, some more info on the 7^3. The "cornerstones that created this world"? Okay, there's mystical, and then there's mystical. XD
But I totally love that Byakuran actually was planning to use the 7^3 to destroy the world. It may not actually be via a DOOMSDAY DEVICE!1 but it's still close enough. In times like these, it's comforting to know that some people can still be relied upon to adhere to the classic villain goals of destroying/conquering/reshaping the world.
...you know where this is leading.
5. Irie: "You did well to get this far. I waited for you..... I'm your ally."

what
I... don't even know. What. WHAAAAAAAAAAAT. ALLY. WHAAAAAT???
Sawada Tsunayoshi and everyone from the family... ah.... you must have been so worried... it's hilarious... fuu.
OH YEAH SURE IT'S REAL FUCKING FUNNY.
...Once again taking characters at their face value comes back to haunt me. :(
SERIOUSLY WHAT IS AMANO SMOKING.
