Sylar heaved a sigh as he pressed the buttons on his new Pinpoint. None of this would count, it was really pointless, and he kept telling himself so every few minutes. However, on the off-chance that God's death really would bring about an apocalypse in all worlds, he had to do something about it ( Read more... )

Mohinder has a taxi to hail, an airplane to catch, a cure to administer, and a whole host of other things to deal with right now that make an unexpected visit from Sylar even more horrible than usual.

He never really bothers to see who's at the door before he opens it anymore--anyone who would want to get in for nefarious reasons is going to get in whether he wants them to or not, because most of the people who want to hurt him have abilities that render locks and chains pointless, and resisting will just piss them off more and put him out the cost of a new door.

But resignation on that score doesn't make him any less frantic or upset to see Sylar on his doorstep--carrying a body, no less.

"Sylar! Why are you here?" Matt and Molly could be home any second, and Molly shouldn't have to see any of this. Mohinder fights the mad urge to slam the door on Sylar's hand.

This is why he sticks one leg inside, easing his way into the apartment before Mohinder has much of a choice. "Apologies for the unannounced visit, Doctor Suresh, but I didn't have time-" He nods his head at Sam's lifeless body on his shoulder, speaking with a matter-of-fact tone of voice. "I need your help. We have to save him."

The fact that Sam has a nice large bullet wound to the head might not help Sylar's demand any.

No, it doesn't. Mohinder stares at the corpse for a long moment, willing his brain to process all this. If it were any other circumstance, he'd be doing whatever he could to save this kid, whoever he is, but he only has a limited supply of blood (and Sylar can't know about that anyway; if he knew he could gain the cheerleader's powers with something Mohinder has on him at this very moment, it would be an unmitigated disaster.) But why is Sylar asking him to save someone?

Ah. The location of the wound explains it all.

"I'm not going to remove that bullet for you just so you can have his brain," Mohinder snaps. "And--there's no hope for him anyway. Just look at him. I can't do anything about a bullet to the head."

"You don't understand," he says, using an exasperated tone like a man about to make a long, involved speech to a six-year-old. He pushes past Mohinder and sets Sam on the nearby couch, then stares at him.

When he doesn't find what he'd apparently been searching for, he turns back to Mohinder. "This isn't just anyone, Mohinder. I don't expect you to do anything for him. You can't help Him, you're right about that. You are going to be fixing me." His hand hangs next to the large glass vase on the table next to the couch. Just in case.
