Chapter 1 Chapter 2 Chapter 3 Ryan closed the door and leaned against it. He looked up at the ceiling and he couldn’t believe that he had just talked to the person that he'd wanted to know since forever. He took a deep breath and listened to the serene silence. Ryan suddenly felt exhausted and a tear flowed down his porcelain skin as he walked into his bedroom. Stripping and standing in his boxers, he jumped into his bed and went back to sleep, damping the clean, white towel.
----
Ryan woke up suddenly from a nightmare. It was from the mystical Gods trying to give him a message to move on with his life, but then he saw Brendon, rescuing him back to heaven. He opened his eyes and rubbed his head. He saw that it was 7:15 in the morning and he flustered about going to work. Technical arts are getting more dependent, like he was, but he had to pay for the rent somehow. He was an editor for one of the popular magazines and had been working there for quite a while. Ryan loved computers and he would do anything to actually be on it constantly, filling his head with binomials and trying to create his own video game.
He got up, and got ready for work, and arrived exactly at 8:01.
The work day went surprisingly slow, which Ryan didn’t expect at all. Usually the days flew by like minutes, but today seemed like a year before he walked home.
Surprisingly, it started to rain again and that gave him a sign that something was going to happen. He wasn’t quite sure of what it was, but he definitely had a feeling that Brendon would appear somewhere.
Ryan didn’t have a car. He didn’t mind walking since he did live outside of the city, and he was afraid that he would be an addition of the many millions of people that continued to forget about the environment and letting the Ozone layer turn to ruins.
He walked into his neighborhood, seeing it all light up. It made Ryan felt suspicious as anyone else would that lived on his street. It wasn’t all luminous as the bright sun, forcing gravitational forces in some way that ended up in a swirl of love throughout all of us. He didn’t know how the rain from the day before had changed his whole personality, but Brendon definitely had some addition to it. Ryan walked in front of his house and looked across the street. The rain had cleared more than half way on his way home and when he turned his head, he saw Brendon sitting on the front stoop of his house with the familiar blanket around his shoulders. Brendon huddled into it and didn’t notice Ryan glancing down at him for those two seconds. At the corner of his eye, he saw Ryan walking towards the pathway of his house.
“Ryan!” Brendon got up and walked across the street, feeling his heart thump out of his chest.
As soon as he heard that voice, Ryan turned around so fast, he got slightly dizzy by the motion.
“Oh hey, Brendon.”
“What are you doing?”
“I just got back from work,” Ryan replied, as he thought that question was random and an excuse for a conversation.
“I see. How was your day?”
“I uh, guess it was alright. What about you?”
Brendon stroked his chin and thought quietly before he replied. “Actually good, to be honest.”
“Sweet. I guess I’ll let you get back to your entertainment then.”
“Aww…”
“I have to finish my article,” Ryan said. He knew that sounded like he didn’t want to talk to Brendon, but he didn’t care. He had his own life and breathing Brendon’s air made him kind of scared and excited all at the same time. Those specific feelings would grow eventually as the days progress into a year, making Ryan more familiar with the deep, calming voice.
Promise me that I will find hope that would make everything in this world seem more connected to you.
Make me walk towards your welcoming arms and swear you’ll never let go when your embrace grips my skin.
Make me believe that I can do anything-that’s the freedom that I’ve never had.
Those reasons that you give me are clueless. It makes me want to figure you out and let me feel young again.
Those dreaming days of summer; let me know that you’re my home inside my heart.
“Okay. I guess I’ll see you later then.” Ryan nodded and saw Brendon pull the blanket closer to his body and turned around slowly.
Ryan didn’t even know if he could call Brendon a friend, a person to converse with, or just a neighbor. He really wanted to make up his mind and know exactly what to call Brendon before he chose to move on or just forget him all together.
Giving up would be too much torture and he could never disregard him at all. Walking into his home and into the bedroom, Ryan pondered for hours and finally made his own decision of what he should do next. At this point, Ryan was certainly in for a crazy roller coaster ride.
