One of the things Cameron's had the most trouble acclimating to since arriving on the island - and there have been quite a few - has been the relative emptiness of his schedule. Though he finds way to keep himself busy, it rarely seems like enough, and even with all his best intentions, there's a gap in his day that brings him back to the hut ( Read more... )

It takes him a little while to get used to the fact that Cam's had classes scheduled for about a month now, leaving Tyler to his own devices while he disappears for a few hours, and it's safe to say that he's trying to figure out how to make the most of his time since he's got the hut to himself for the better part of the afternoon.

Cam's a big enough reader - some things don't change, even with four months of time in between - and Tyler's flipping through one of his books when his brother comes in after what he guesses is a second class. Tyler flips the book shut and leans back in his chair.

"As always," he replies. "Some of us just happened to miss registration this semester."

"Not my fault you're slower than I am," Cameron answers with a crooked grin. This has to be one of the few areas in which he can fairly say that when, athletically speaking, they're fairly well matched. It's a relief to have that back in his life, even if he's not about to say so outright. Ty gets the picture anyway. As well as they can handle being apart, four months has to be the longest he's had to be on his own.

"You could always take my place in the Cardio conditioning for a day. Barnes is brutal, it's great. Although he might actually notice you using the wrong dominant hand."

"I've had enough practice with knowing how to be you, Cam," Tyler responds, leaning back in his chair a little more, his fingers loosely linked together over his abdomen as he props his feet up on a table that almost looks like it would buckle under the weight of a small stack of books on most days. Given its seemingly shoddy craftsmanship, however, it's holding up remarkably well. "I think I can at least pretend to be a lefty for a couple hours."

It might be easier said than done, though, but Tyler's had enough practice with conditioning up until recently. "Think he'd let me in late? It's either that or trying to figure out a way to build a tank in the backyard."

"There's no harm asking," Cameron says with a shrug, dropping into a nearby chair. "Although if you want a hand building a tank, we could figure it out." It might actually be just a little beyond them, but they tend to manage pretty well when they put their minds to something. Besides, even if they can't do it on their own, there are plenty of people here who would probably be able to help them figure out what they'd need to do to make it happen. With Ty here, it feels like time to get back to business, to do something. If they're stuck here, at least they can make the most of it.
