Things probably aren't as bad as they seem. When someone wants to talk to you in private, it's not always a bad thing.

Don't be so intimidated by your boss... they're human... and they're scared, when THEIR boss shows up. That's right, they have a boss!

Don't let other people in a funk rub off on you. You don't need their funk

I believe it's a good idea to make plans, just not to get too attached to them.
In related news, my new place (June 1st) is gorgeous - the top floor of a Victorian! My rent is only $300/month and I am going to live with another crazy artist.
