jossel made this note on what it is like to call in, to show how easy it is:
So I called Kerry at (413) 785-4610 (Springfield office phone). Just said
"Hi, I'm calling to show support for passing the stimulus bill." She said
"great, I'll mark it down and pass it along to the senator." and I said,
"great, big, bold, and including strong provisions for affordable housing."
and she said "great, thanks for calling." and that was it.

Seems like the most moderate repub's to target are:
Arlen Specter Pennsylvania
Susan Collins Maine
Olympia Snow Maine
Lisa Murkowski Alaska
Chuck Grassley Iowa
Judd Gregg (sp?) New Hampshire

If you
know anyone else in those states you want to reach out to.... pretty easy to
find their Washington # here, and with a little extra digging their
individual websites, and local numbers:

And yet, Susan Collins is one of the leaders of the group in the Senate that significantly weakened the stimulus bill. They kinds of stuff they "compromised" on in the Senate included stripping out state aid, cutting money to build schools, an outright prohibition on spending any money on museums, theaters, and IIRC bicycle paths, and all sorts of other moronic stuff. I called Susan Collins' office in outrage last Thursday. I asked if Susan Collins even understands what the stimulus bill is supposed to do. They had no good answers. I'm really starting to hate that woman.

Do you think an outraged call to an aide gets more than just a little check box on their list of "supports/does not support X bill" kind of thing?

It probably depends on what one says, and the person who takes the call. I engaged this one in a couple of minutes of question & answer, so hopefully she wrote something down, but I cannot tell.
