Sam's a role model for me and many other girls/women. Amanda has taught me a lot, too, from her interactions with fans. I hope I'm a better human being for having "known" both of them

The first thing that popped into my head was in "The Warrior," when the Jaffa didn't believe the human weapons were good enough for them and Jack told Sam to demonstrate. The lead Jaffa (K'yanto? I forget), said, "The female?!"
The look Sam gave him after destroying the target... that little, "That's right, the female" look. I always love it. :D
1. Foothold when Sam yells at Maybourne, "Damn it Maybourne, you're an idiot every day of the week. Why couldn't you have taken just one day off?" (Or something like that.) Actually, Sam is awesome in the entire episode but I love her sassing the "superior" officer.
2. When Sam and Daniel are trying to disarm the mine from around the planet and she's trying to explain why the makers of the technology had to understand the concept of zero. It was wonderfully geeky, fits with things her character really should know and understand, and it's good stuff. (We're going to ignore that adding a zero to a math symbol system would just be a new symbol rather than shifting all the numbers over a place, yes?)
1. Yeah, in reality a subordinate would get brought up on charges, not "credited" as happened, but I do love that moment.
2. Love that whole under-bomb-scene - especially when Jack has his head nearly on her belly and then pulls her out by her feet. And the "It's all Phoenician to me, Sir," line is PRICELESS (That's in that epi, too, right? Or am I misremembering/mentalpausing it?).
Thanks for responding...hadn't gotten a big response, so I appreciate your taking the time.
I think it was in Chicago, where someone asked Amanda what she was afraid of, and she said she was afraid of looking stupid in the scene when Fifth was torturing her. I thought that was a smart, brave answer.
Yeah, very "transparent", Amanda is. Willing to share that sort of thing but then totalling embarrassed to be heard laughing... Silly as all get out, self-deprecating...but doesn't want to make Sam look stoopid.
Me, I'd be afraid of loosing myself, staring at RDA and never being able to utter a coherent word...
My favorite Sam moment changes weekly (if not more often), but right now- it's when Sam hit Ba'al in "The Quest"- because she is a girl and a scientist, but neither stops her :) And the "I talk to my plants" moment, because it's so cute and geeky and shows a really soft side of the soldier!Sam. Oh, and *points at icon*, from Space Race :)
I asked Amanda once how she came up with the diferent nuances between the different "Sams"...and when she talked about Geek!Sam, she said, "That's mainly based on geeky Amanda..." Love her!
