Yes, I met him at Shore-Leave28 last summer - with Amanda, so a very special meet-up! I feel very fortunate to have met the actors I have. Some I wouldn't ever care if I see again, but Carmen is a doll
( ... )
I don't know - I was sort of hoping to hear that there would be another one this year, but we already had our tickets at this point for 2006, I think. *sigh*
Yeah, well, AT3 was pushed back from the fall to next May, too, and they haven't started selling tix for that yet either. I know some fans have met him as Seashepherd fundraisers and the like.
I wasn't sure if I was going to go to Comic-Con this year, had my ticket but not my flight. Then I heard that the Stargate folks (Atlantis presumably) will be there as well as at least Damian Kindler from Sanctuary. I have to work that Friday (traded it to have the early July Fridays both off), so I could only go for Saturday & Sunday.
Hi! Finally getting around to commenting on Carnival of Squee entries... this is great! Some interesting observations - you are so right about Jacob "humanizing" Sam. SG-1 is all about *family* - Daniel and Jack losing theirs only to find it again in the team; Teal'c giving his family up to fight for a better future for them; and Sam - reconnecting with her family and then sharing it with the rest of SG-1. Jacob really was "Dad" for all of them. I love that episode (The Summit, maybe?) where Jacob calls Daniel "Danny". So cute. And all the times Jack calls Jacob "Dad" and Jacob doesn't bat an eye. And when he drops everything on an important Tok'ra mission to go fetch Jack and Teal'c, even though he completely disagrees with the SGC's policies. Aw, Dad, you were the best! Out of all the losses on SG-1 over the years, Jacob's was the hardest for me.
Your icon is great - it makes me laugh every time I see it. And I have no Jacob icon... this must be remedied!
Thanks. It was special made-to-order for me. I came up with the idea, and a friend executed it perfectly!

I have to say I felt Janet pretty deeply. But yes, Jacob's death was a hard pill to swallow. This penchant of the writers/producers to kill characters off "just to shake things up"...well, it totally SUCKS.
