There was a reason for the Hayes Code that got imposed on Hollywood in the early 30s -- the silent films of the late 1920s were actually quite graphic in depicting both nudity and sex.

Based on a documentary "sin cities" there was lots of nudity and sex in 1910s to 1930s.

Well it's circa 1900-1918, so perhaps one of Celeste's great- or great-great-grandmothers...

Considering the Christmas trees on ladies heads in the 1950s, perhaps this hat in question is supposed to represent Moses' burning bush...
