premise

This game is a Multi-Fandom based game with elements of fairytales and folklore mashed into one! Your character is essentially pulled from their world to take the place of a fairytale/folklore character who originally inhabited the island. The Arcana, who take after the Major Arc within Tarot, are trying to get you to become that character through certain influences and events, possibly leading to full control of your mind. But fear not! You may fight back, though it's not particularly advised.

the island

The game takes place on an Island. It's circular in shape, with a large castle at the top of the mountain. The castle is where the Arcana live. This place is not to be entered by denizens ever, for fear of punishment from those who rule it. Surrounding the castle, in lower hills, are the homes of the denizens. They are special to the characters and remind them of the stories they once lived in. They are built on imagination, so if they wanted to change them, all they had to do was imagine it to be different. Naturally, if the Arcana don't like it, they will just change it back to the way they want it, maybe add in a few surprises!

However, when you arrive, the other denizens are no longer there. The Arcana are bored with them and looking long and hard for their replacement. Do not worry: you will have many friends soon.

communication

Communication in Arcanarum is very simple! Once you arrive into the world, you are provided with your role, the clothes of your denizen, and a small, circular compact. These compacts come in a lovely pink and, sometimes, do really nifty things! They can sing, throw hearts, or even make it rain glitter when you open them. When you look inside, you will see two mirrors. The top you may use to chat via video with someone, or just voice, while the bottom is used (via magic) much like a touch screen. It features various font options for text entries/responses, such as color, font face, and size. Links and filters are also possible, but you must fully input those yourself rather than copying and pasting.

Despite being rather sturdy devices, being magically enhanced and whatnot, they're actually rather sensitive. Accidental "buttdialing" and posts are very possible.

the arcana

As previously stated, the Major Arcana of Tarot are the Rulers of this world. Based on some of the interpretations from the cards themselves, they have been tied to the events of this world as well. Below is a brief explanation of their roles:

the emperor

The embodiment of male strength, he rules with a strict yet fair hand. Using the abilities of the Sun Card, the Emperor is able restore Arcanarum to it's full vitality should anything ever happen to it. He is also able to destroy anything he chooses with his strength, so it is not wise to cross him.

the empress

This ruler possesses all the gentle grace of womankind. Motherly in nature, she is always kind to her subjects, the figurehead of quiet strength behind her husband. Using the Strength card, the Empress is able to provide a slow yet positive change to the world. However, her unwavering patience should not be tried too many times.

justice and judgement

Justice and Judgement are the twins of the group, both female. Justice usually wears robes of white and lavender, giving those who obey gifts of change and joy to reward them of their service to the Rulers. Judgement, however, often dons black and deep blue robes, much like the night, and deals out negative consequences to those who defy the order of the Emperor and Empress' will.

the world

The world itself. No one has ever seen the World's true form, though rumors say that it is a woman of unsurpassed beauty, even more beautiful then the Empress. The World does not approve of what happens to the poor denizens, so it provides you with the weapons to fight. Because of the Emperor's destructive power, the World is currently locked away, but when the Arcanas of Day and Night weaken the power, it will deliver something from your world to you.

the wheel of fortune

Just like its card, it is the teller of change. Whether it is good or bad, it just depends. The wheel is located in front of the castle gates, and spins whenever it choses (or so the denizens think). It is the teller of fortunes (or lack thereof) to come. The Wheel controls the Arcanas of Day and Night, who come out of the castle when they are summoned by it.

the arcana of night

These are the bringers of bad omens. If The Wheel happens to turn on any of the Rulers below, negative things will happen to the people in Arcanarum. The individuals that are under the Arcana of Night are:

The Fool

The Chariot

The Hermit

The Devil

The Tower

The Moon

the arcana of day

These are the bringers of good omens. If The Wheel happens to turn on any of the Rulers below, positive things will happen to the people in Arcanarum. The individuals that are under the Arcana of Day are:

The Magician

The High Priestess

The Lovers

The Hanged Man

Temper-
ance

The Star

It is possible for the Wheel to choose two at a time, Night and Day. However, it is very rare for this to happen, and it's not within the Emperor and Empress' plans to make your life easy. After all, you're here to become what they want you to be, correct?
