090 - RIOT TIME. [Voice]

Jun 29, 2009 17:16

I have an announcement for the Wardens aboard this vessel:

You are no different from us. You are not saints, you are not 'good people', and a great many of you aren't even qualified to look after a house plant, let alone a person. You are killers, thieves, lunatics, sociopaths, just like the rest of us. In fact, the only thing that separates ( Read more... )

west just kinda hates you all, riot time

Seriously?

This isn't the way to handle this, West. If you're such a big fan of diplomacy, you could try talking to us instead of kidnapping people and demanding we surrender.

I don't know how you think this is going to end. But in the long run it'll only make things worse.

Talking? Ah, right, because that worked so well in the past.

You're one of the good ones, but that doesn't change the problems with the others. This is the only way.

Bureaucracy takes time, but it's the price you have to pay to live free of anarchy. And I am trying, but you have to work with us, not against us. The system here isn't going to change in a day, a week, even a month.

A stunt like this will only make everyone believe you deserve to be locked up and the key thrown overboard.

I have been here for over a year, Angel, and witnessed the same things happening again and again and again.

Let them believe what they'd like. It would only prove me right.

Kidnapping does not help your cause.

No, but it does give us a bartering chip, in the very likely event that you don't wish to listen.

....

And what about those of us who are neither warden nor interested in joining your rebellion? What are we to do? You've laid claim to the food supply. Would you force us to join you?

Come to your own decision.

Such delusions of grandeur you have! Unfortunately for you and your lot, you will not succeed.

Unwilling to listen to reason. I expected as much from a woman.

I do not negotiate with kidnappers.

I have no love for men, and only a man would do as you've done.

Perhaps you should speak to the female inmates sometime. It'll clear that silly misconception up like [You can hear a snap] that.

Yeah. No, this isn't going to work. I know where you're coming from, but is it so hard to see that the things that separate you from us are actions like these? It's one thing to dismiss the moral superiority of the "opportunists", but you're actually demonstrating here and now the kinds of behaviors that landed you in this situation, asking for rule while calling it equality.

Also, I feel obligated to ask: seriously, you guys, are you working with the Master at all? Does that not give you any pause whatsoever? You want files? Oh you can have his file. Talk about first against the wall when the revolution came. Honestly, "sociopaths just like you", yeah, except in his case.

The Wardens have shown that they're perfectly willing to beat us down like dogs for no reason at all-- and that they will suffer no consequences when they do so. They'll never speak to us as equals, and they will never listen to us. Actions such as these are simply to ensure that our voices are heard.

...

He destroyed somebody I cared for. None of us are working with him.

They ensure a hell of a lot more than that. With a Warden-Inmate relationship, I'm pretty sure equality isn't the top priority for a reason. The power can be abused, but it's not going to accomplish anything and it's certainly not the goal. Using the Master as an extreme example, do you see why this kind of power might be necessary?

I'm glad to hear that. I hope you can police yourselves for as long as this lasts, because I'm not going to be held responsible for any shit he pulls while I can't get at him.

And under the new system, dangers to the whole of us-- such as he and his ilk-- will be taken care of on a more permanent basis. Fates will be decided by all of us, peers, not just the Wardens.

He'll stay away from us, if he knows what's good for him. The orders are to shoot him on sight.
