The Midnighter walks through one those doors--the parlor door to be exact--to see what else was in this stupid house. He'd already tried calling for the Carrier Door, which didn't show up no matter how many times he called for it. And really, there were only so many times a grown man could yell "door" at the air before he had to question his own sanity. That left the more traditional ways of leaving a house. The windows were the first thing he checked, and none of the fucking glass in the house broke (a fact he learned after nearly breaking his hand), that left the most boring option of all: the front door.

Only he didn't make it as far as the front door, because he instead came face to face with some kid in a costume. Was that supposed to be a maid costume or something?

"Kid, you're in the way. Move."
