Who: Akito/Agito and the Faceless Mirror Man Where: Doll Bathroom When: Night 1, after Midnight What: Akito runs from the strange creatures in the house, and finds a worse one in the bathroom. Warnings: Character death
The door stayed closed. The dolls stayed still and silent, staring at him with glassy eyes set into pretty painted faces.
And Akito was not alone.
He could have even overlooked it temporarily, if he wasn't looking for such things to begin with. A tall man stood behind him in a classy, double-breasted, pin-striped navy suit; a matching fedora cast a long shadow over his features, curly dark brown hair and a fair complexion peeking out from under it. His head was tipped as though looking down at Akito, the angle and hat brim only further obscuring his face.
It would take a concentrated effort to realize that he didn't have a face at all.
And yet, there was not a sound made, not a movement felt. The man stood still and watched, (How can something watch when it has no eyes?) his face as blank and smooth and featureless as a porcelain mask. There was no trace of him in the room at all, should Akito turn around to check--but there he remained in the reflection, waiting.
He had to turn around and check to make sure he hadn't accidentally over-looked the man in the room itself, but no, he was alone in the room. So the man...existed only in the mirror. Was he invisible?
The light examined him again, mostly noticing the suit and fedora. While maybe dated, at least it matched. Akito supposed he could give him that. He walked around the bathroom, looking away from the mirror again to make sure he wasn't invisible, and he really did exist purely within the mirror. "How does that work?" he asked his other, confused. Agito didn't have an answer for him, quiet in their mind.
He glanced back at the mirror, confused. It didn't make sense. He examined the man once more...and finally noticed it, recoiling in alarm. He didn't have a face. The man had no face. What...what was this? Another monster?
'Akito, let me take over. I can get us out of here.'The light thought on that, keeping his eye on the faceless man. "In a minute, neh...he's only in the mirror, so he can't hurt us. He doesn't exist in
( ... )
There was nothing in the room with Akito--no man, no invisible form, not even a breath of warmer or colder air to suggest that anything ever had been there to begin with.
The man in the mirror simply watched in return as Akito did his inspections, pose loose and easy, arms angled as though his hands were in his pockets, too far down for the mirror to show. His hat only further shadowed the blankness of his face as he tipped his head further down, seemingly looking straight at Akito.
One hand lifted into view, gold cufflink glinting in the light, and stretched out as though reaching for Akito. It couldn't reach him, of course, but it could reach the mirror--he tapped on the other side with gentle insistence, each clack of his nails sounding sharp and clear against the glass. The mirror rattled faintly against the wall.
The rattle distracted him from a further inspection. Akito watched the man, almost hypnotised by the sight. The wrong about this situation was holding him with a morbid kind of curiosity. He wanted to understand and run far away from here at the same time. The curiosity was only winning at the moment because he was sure that the man couldn't hurt him. He was only in the mirror after all...
Still, the light stayed away from the mirror, since the rattling was very creepy. He inched closer a bit, wondering if the reflection man wanted something. Akito doubted he could talk (no mouth and all) but...hm.
"I don't get this place at all..." he murmured to his other. Nothing made sense here. Golden eye stayed on the man, curious, and afraid.
