Precious. An Epilogue of "His Last Bow".

Author’s Note: This is my personal conclusion to the Sherlock Holmes series, as I was dissatisfied with the ending we got in canon. It is meant to fit in directly after His Last Bow, not to contradict anything ACD wrote (I hope I managed), and to still explain everything from a slashy point of view (which is easier than from a non-slashy one, IMHO ( Read more... )

seriously? You need to post this over at cox_and_co. It's an amazing piece of work, and yes, it does explain a lot and give us a real resolution to the series. Great job, you should be very proud.

(and squee! and older men in love)

Oh, and I'm making you an icon, as per requested. ^_^

Wow! Thanks for that icon! I'm honoured. :-)
That picture is so beautiful.

Good idea about cox & co. Yes, I'll do that.

And thanks also for the positive feedback! I'm glad to know it works on some level.

Wonderful, wonderful! I really like your explanation for the inexplicable distancing between them; it fits in with Canon very well, indeed.

I, too, have never understood why they drifted apart--what the hell was Conan Doyle thinking? Of course in my 'slashiverse' Watson wrote the stories that way to throw off anyone who might think there was any hanky-panky between them (see my story "August 2, 1914" for my own version).

I hope you write more. This needs a sequel!!

I am supposed to be working now and won't be able to log in again until Monday, so for now I'll just give a quick but huge thank you to everyone who has replied yet! I didn't realize this would make me so happy.. :-)

As to a sequel, I hadn't planned one originally (it was really meant to be a conclusion), but I'll think about it. It will have to wait, though, I've already started another story and should really try to finish it first (no idea if I manage.. it's supposed to be a mystery, and God, that's difficult to write..).

This was lovely! So glad you decided to share it with all of us over at cox_and_co. Your character voices were spot on and you do a splended job explaining their separation later in life. Hope to see more from you in the future! :)

This is beautiful--wonderfully written, believable and sweet. A sequel about them learning to work out this new relationship they're developing would be adored!
