Eh, I love you too. :) And I love this! You just fed my bullet-proof kink, which is non-gratuitious, in-character hurt/comfort. ;) Heaven!

Great characterization work with both of them, and really nice progression in the story. I adored this moment:

"I'm sorry, here, let me wipe..." John reached toward her with
a napkin in hand, and her reaction was swift. She didn't stop
to think that he was trying to help. She just reacted.

Her hand left a wide red mark on his cheek.

She gaped at him, then at her hand. "I...I'm...."

He stood up straight and touched his cheek. He was quiet for
a long moment, then shook his head and smiled that little smile
of his.

And this:

...I've never
had a woman slap me and then look quite like you did." He
stopped here, kind of abruptly like he wanted to say something
else.

Mmmm... *melts into little puddle of bliss*

Nicely done, MJ. Her acute embarrassment was painfully real, and since one of the few times we really got to see her she was hitting on "Mulder" in Dreamland, seemed very in character.

It's really too bad we never got even a hint at a name, because she deserves one. I meant to tell you, I loved your analysis of her background on the Harem list, and I'm glad you wove some of that into this story. The bit about talking to her mother while one of her ex-conquests walked by and winked at her...ouch.

Oooh, Michele, I like this story a lot! Your thorough backstory and characterization of Our Heroine (damn, she needs a name!) make this a rich story indeed. And this is the John Doggett I know and love so much. Who needs hot sex when you can get such wonderful characterization?

Thanks for a lovely story, sweetie. Love you too. : )

This isn't hokey--it's sweet ans wonderful. I really enjoyed it--you do a great job bringing her to life and keeping her anonymous. I love her self-consciousness.

Ditto. Perfect Doggett -- I knew he'd be a gentleman to her.

And I'll bet that Doggett is a Junior kinda guy. ;)
