Ok, if your not interested in this dont read it! If you are only interested in a few tracks I'll link each one so you can easily sort out what you want from the rest of my gibber. Firstly, I have to say this album is an excellent record but it is a grower. Its a quick grower but there are less of the fast paced all-out rockers, and alot of epics. ( Read more... )

well, for a start, classic rock gave it 9/10, and also raved about its progginess. wahoo! kev, you so should work for some kinda music magazine, that was far more interesting than the classic rock review... and less confusing. in one part of the magazine they said it was the best album since "seventh son", in another area they said best album since "piece of mind"... um... which means? and if that DID make sense, hmm, thats a bit... presumptuous to decide that quickly...
anyway.

Heheh, yeah I read those reviews. Saying since Piece of Mind is abit harsh on basically the entire back catalogue (PoM was the 4th album). I was a little annoyed when they said that cos PoM is classic but not brilliant, goes downhill quickly. And since Seventh Son? Nah... Brave New World was better than that in my opinion... But hey! Whatever...

Actually... Not sure if BNW is... But yeah, its too early to say :P

wasnt sure what chronological number "piece of mind" was, but they said 1983... i was thinkin, geez, well it's not like they've sat around and done nothing for the last 23 years... :S maybe the reviewer just Really Really liked "Piece of Mind"... either that or they've forgotten about the last... *does math, 14 - 4 = 10*... last 9 albums! phew! some amnesia that would be...

now if they're saying piece of mind was *That* good, i guess you'd better lend it to me, i could be missin something here... well, flight of icarus is great, and you *Know* i love the trooper, but enough to eclipse the last 2 decades of work...um... :S

Yeah it Soooo isnt worth that sort of rep. Yeah sure, its a good album, no doubts about that whatsoever. But still after the first 3 songs then tracks 5 and 6, the rest are average at best and pretty poor by Maiden's standards at worst. (so in short 5/9 good songs)

I shall bring it with the Black Sabbath and some Scorpions! :P
