Most celebrity deaths don't affect me. Besides a passing "that's sad", I don't really emote because I don't really let these celluloid creations into my psyche other than for entertainment value. Aaron Spelling wasn't surprising and Kurt Cobain didn't really deserve my sympathy. But there have been others who's passing genuinely made me upset. And ( Read more... )

As an environmental student, my feelings are mixed on the matter. On one side I weigh up the cost of the animals he pissed off. On the other, the benefit he gained in public interest for the protection of animals.

I think he comes out on the plus side.

I guess I would also have to look at the negative image as a stereotypical Orrrstralian he gave us...

I was just chatting with a friend I have in Oz this morning and he too was slightly embarassed by Steve...to me, he didn't solely exemplify Australian culture. He was a piece in the puzzle (in my eyes) as to why your continent is so great.

I always felt Australia was the warm-weather version of where I reside (Canada). The awesome scenery/nature; the laid back nature of it's people (at least that is what I perceive, based on people I know from there); and, many of my favorite celebrities come from there. It's like a talent-pool.

But again, I'm not from there so this is strictly the opinion of someone who lives a world away and probably sees Oz through rose-coloured glasses.

steve irwin affected me too, the only celebrity dying (including princess di and stuff) that actually brouht a tear to my eye!!

ps: my sister stole the kate moss icon you have and i put it on my lj. did you makeit, can i take it with credit??
