Mar 05, 2008 00:30

After reading about K-dramas on lenabean's journal and consequently dangermousie's journal, I started watching The Legend/Four Gods

And omg, I am hooked and I'm only on the fifth episode out of 24.

*was hooked by the second episode*

It's a good thing you're watching Legend before Winter Sonata as he did not intrigue me at all in that one. In fact, if I had remembered that he was the star of it, I would not have watched Legend. Luckily, most details about Winter Sonata were soon forgotten after watching it. It's not bad, really, it's just v. v. angsty, though my ire against it is that it is boringly angsty. Probably because I didn't feel for the characters very much and the story itself was just so depressing.

I'm pretty certain I have not finished watching it and do not even recall when I stopped, so, really, it could very well improve over time. It remember it was slightly addictive in its train wreck-iness angst.... Hee, it MIGHT pull you in, actually, since many have loved it and they can't all be wrong about it. :P

Thank you for the warning about Winter Sonata! *appreciates it* Oh dear, lots and lots of angst...I like lots of angst sometimes but too much/too depressing angst might not be for me.

Omg, I love "The Legend" though! *squeee* I was wondering, do you have any recommends for dramas like The Legend? *curious* *really enjoying the genre*

I have developed great love for Dam Duk (thus his actor by association) so I'm actually tempted to give Winter Sonata a retry, now that I'm at least interested in the male character. :D Maybe it is not as angsty as I first remembered it (this was years ago, my palate for Korean drama angst has considerably changed :D)

As for recs, I am terribly looking forward to this drama: http://www.iljimae.info/ because am very much a fan of Lee Jun Ki. There is another period k-drama that is already out and its synopsis sounded mightily interesting but I've forgotten the name of it AND I heard there have not been subtitles for it so will just have to wait to see if news of it being subbed ever circulates ;_;

*nod nod* I'm going to try Winter Sonata soon...I've fallen for Yon-sama very much and couldn't resist! :D

Have you seen his movie "Untold Scandal"? I'm going to try to download that one, I read that it's based upon the story "Dangerous Liasons" which is another favorite story of mine *has seen many of the film versions that are out there*.

Thank you telling me about Iljimae! I will try to check it out.

I'm so glad I've recently discovered Korean period dramas. I love Japanese period dramas and British and American period films and so more period films/drams are ♥.
