The idea that not understanding the communication of emotions may also have to do with the abuse of animals. Hey, they can't talk, they must not have feelings! *shakes head* Believe me, they do, you just have to pay attention to them long enough. Even my beta has emotions and can communicate them. My favorite being when she's telling me I went to bed too late. She starts making a racket in her tank which I translate into "you stupid human, go to bed!!!! I want this light off now!"
