OMG I can't believe I didn't notice Alexis Denisof in "Instinct" when it aired! I mean, I was into HIMYM by then and still knew plenty of people who would have been able to point him out, so.... I dunno. I do remember that episode, too. Hmm.
Meanwhile, why would you willingly watch "Hush" at night!? I WAS SO FREAKING TERRIFIED. THEY'RE LIKE THE SILENCE DUDES FROM DOCTOR WHO BUT SOMEHOW THEIR FREAKY SMILES MAKE THEM CREEPIER AND I WILL NEVER SLEEP AGAIN.
Denisof was in "Vows," too. I knew he was going to be a recurring character, but I managed to forget it somewhere between beginning the series and actually getting to his first episode. It's entirely possible that you didn't realize it was him because he doesn't have a slightly orange tinge in Dollhouse.
Re: The Silence. And I think I just realized that what The Batman-version Joker has been reminding me of is the Gentlemen's lackey things, with the weird crawl and the straight jackets.
Anyway, I'm glad you were able to be properly freaked out even with all of the hype you've heard ;^) And now you know about Weetabix! (I can never decide whether Giles' overhead slides or the misunderstanding with Xander, Spike, and Anya is my second favourite thing about this episode, but it's one of those two.)
OH WAIT, NO. I definitely did recognize him! It's all coming back to me now that you mention he was a recurring character. YES. It's just been so long since I've watched Dollhouse. Yeesh.
And... I can't talk about Buffy right now, lest images present themselves in my brain and I really won't be able to sleep. Obviously, because of the good note that I ended on with "Doomed" and Spike EPICNESS, I'll have to continue marathoning rather than reading Hunger Games all day tomorrow as previously planned.
OH NOES DON'T TELL BRITTANY SHE WILL KILL ME. It sounds like I really need to get back on my second time through BS6/AS3 so I can actually remember what happens in those episodes when you get to them in, like, a week or two...
Also, I would like to say, with regards to your Facebook discussion of not really loving Spike, that, without hinting too much at future events, it took a LONG TIME for me to come to terms with whether or not I loved him or just enjoyed watching him, and how much I loved him if I did, and if I needed to qualify that love or feel guilty about it or anything. SO, YES, I totes understand what you mean. He is a complicated character, to say the least.
Okay, I've got one of those classic Joss Whedon Will Not Be Sated Until He Has Consumed ALL OF THE TEARS episodes of Angel up next, so I'm gonna go rip that bandaid off...and then probably watch "A New Man" because it will please me to do so and I'm not yet ready to find out whatever horrible secret Denisof is hiding/how he will be horribly tortured and/or
( ... )
