Five thoughts after watching "Rebel Flesh"

1) OMG, y'all, I think I might be watching Doctor Who...! They're, like, in the future dealing with the ethical ramifications of advanced technology and urging peaceful reconciliation, and the Companions are off on side quests of their own devising, and there was a totally predictable and slightly cheesy but nevertheless tantalizing cliffhanger,

I confess that I don't think the "Who" cred would have helped,* because nobody in America cared about "Who" until Matt Smith's Doctor -- and it's still only like ten people. I mean, I exaggerate, but you see my point. Advertising it that way wouldn't have helped much

I'm not suggesting that putting Tennant's name/face on the posters would have rocketed Fright Night to the top of the box office, but I know from talking to my circle of Whovian friends that I am absolutely not the only one who didn't know until the last minute* that he was in it at all. In fact, most of them didn't know _until I told them_. No one watches commercials anymore, and since his presence in the trailer is more of an Easter egg than an actual advertisement, it was seriously only a bit of luck that any of us found out
