It's been a surprisingly good day, especially for a Monday. Apparently, all I need is a short-term _purpose_ in life, even if I don't actually get an opportunity to work directly on it. "The Stand" as in the King book? I am like seventy pages into it and LOVING it and I have pretty much decided just this morning that I just can't read it right now. I have to stop. I am still Season!Eight Monk and not POST!Season!Eight!Monk and reading about a horrible horrible flu that will kill 99% of the population is just not something I should be doing right now. So it's back to the Dark Tower series until his awesome JFK TIME TRAVELING NOVEL comes out ...

Also, I am GROSSLY behind on Spike comics, but catching up with Darkwing. (That shot of Morgana in Darkwing #9, slumped down and muttering about how much easier it would all be if Darkwing didn't mean so much to her, is like my new favorite picture EVER. And, while we're talking about that page: that entire page is what reassured me that Brill was going to do a far better job with her character than the show did much of the time. But that is another rant. :D)

Yes, the King book! We have a small collection of audio books at work, which I have never had any use for in the past because I can't do my usual work AND follow/enjoy a new-to-me story to my satisfaction. After I spent most of last week having far-too-emotional responses to my music, I discovered that I truly don't have more than about three CDs that don't make me think entirely too much at the moment, since I've been doing absolutely brainless copy-and-paste work, so I decided to see what our audio library had. "The Stand" caught my eye, since I've always MEANT to read King and somehow always manage NOT to*, and I'm actually a little surprised at just how very much I am enjoying it (especially considering the subject matter). I finished side 12 of 46 today, and I'm scrambling to find more brainless work, because I'm _obviously_ going to keep listening ( ... )
