Fic: The Week The Sassy Pose Came To Camelot - aka Ven's Christmas Crack Fic.

Jan 08, 2010 00:08

This fic was written as a Christmas present for my fantastic beta vensre , to say Merry Christmas and a big thank you for all her help and encouragement with my fanfiction this past year. God knows, it wouldn't be half so good without her input!

Anyway, at her request, I am posting it publicly to my journal :) This was written after a conversation, many ( Read more... )

I HAVE NEVER LAUGHED SO HARD IN MY ENTIRE LIFE. NO SERIOUSLY EVERYTHING GOT ALL PURPLE AND SILVER AND I COULDN'T BREATHE.

Thank you so much for the awesomeness that has been everything since July. I'm looking forward to a future full of further shenaniganations! ♥

I HAVE CHECKED WITH GWEN AND MORGANA - COURT ARBITERS OF TASTE - AND THEY APPROVE THE PURPLE AND SILVER.

My washing bowl tells me there will be MANY more shenaniganations before July comes round again... :D

I was in RIDICULOUS hysterics by the time it got to "OH GOD THAT'S WHY I'M WEARING THE *SHEET*".

SO GOOD for me. *hugs* Thank you! :DD

ETA: The laughter was so good for me, I mean. Not some bizarre self-aggrandisement which came out wrong.

...I think I'm going to stop talking now. *FACEPALM*

Your fic is amazing. My commenting is FAIL. ^_^

I knew what you meant!!

And thank you :D :D When I was putting the finished fic together with the pictures and captions just before Christmas, I was giggling like a slightly deranged person at the living room table - so I'm very happy to hear you found it amusing too!! I can never read my Tales of Brave Adventure with a straight face again now, I fear.

THE...PICTURES WITH THE...CAPTIONS. OH MY GOODNESS. I CAN'T EVEN TYPE PROPERLY IT'S TOO FUNNY.

Gwen stuttering! The mutton pie! I think my favourite picture is the one with LANCELOT'S MOUSTACHE AND GWEN'S REACTION. (It is very hard for me not to type this whole thing in capslock. XD) Morgana's visions! AHAHAHA bearded!Merlin and bearded!Arthur. Them growing old and grey together, oh my heart. Merlin as a midwife, OMG yes please.

Arthur the Clean-Shaven and Round of Shoe, who was in all things guided by his Court Sorcerer, Merlin the Beardless and Always Right.

ABSOLUTE GENIUS.

This is the funniest thing since, um, EVER. :D

Merlin would be an AMAZING midwife. Right up until the moment he fainted (which would probably be shortly after Arthur). Then Gwen would roll her eyes at the pair of them, and she and Morgana would step over their prone bodies, send Lancelot for warm water and towels and generally be AWESOME and EFFICIENT, and still have time to wake up the King and his Court Sorcerer with some smelling salts afterwards.

Anyway, THANK YOU. I am really chuffed you enjoyed it so much. It was written to be laughed at so I couldn't wish for a better reaction :D :D

Heee! I like to think that Merlin (and Arthur) would definitely faint at his first birth and Gwen and Morgana would be all awesome like you say. But after that, once he's used to it, Merlin would be that supportive doctor-type person and swaddle the newborn in extra-soft cloth and hand it to the mother and tell her what a beautiful and strong baby she has and not even wince when the baby pulls on his ears or something. :D

The pictures are hilarious, but again, the captions (and the rest of the story) are brilliant.

Oh DEFINITELY. He just needs to get over the shock that babies do not in fact just spring joyously into the world with a minimum of blood and other unpleasant things. Although I like to think he will still cry as much or even more than the mothers do :D, and poor Arthur will probably always feel a bit queasy.

Awwww the image of a baby pulling on his ears in too adorable!

Lord Eliot dismounted right in front of Merlin and he forced to add ‘traumatic’ to the list.

LMAO!

“And what the hell am I even doing? Why’s that woman giving me a baby? Am I a midwife in the future?”

I died, I actually died. I love this fic so hard. Because this is maybe the funniest thing I have read in forever. It was perfect and insane and beautiful! Thank you :D

*sends Sir Lucian to revive you*

I think 'insane' is the best way to describe it :D ::D Although I think Lord Eliot was starting to quite enjoy that snug feel around his legs (even if no-one else was)...

Thank you very much for commenting!! It was silly amounts of fun to think up, so I'm glad you enjoyed it too :D

I came across this totally by accident (a very lucky one) and I have to say that I haven't laughed like this in quite a while. I think I might have actually broken something.

My knowledge of Enid Blyton is sadly limitited to The Famous Five series but seeing those illustrations makes me want to go back and reread some of her books.

I loved how all the illustrations perfectly fitted into the story, the 'hand-talking' curse and quotes like
It was at times like this that Merlin wished he was better at remembering his forgetting spells.
or
and one for the language of eyebrows (already bookmarked apparently).
made me laugh so damn much. I am also really glad that Arthur was strong enough to resist growing a beard, that'd be horrible.

Amazing read. (I hope that you're planning to re-post so that the newsletter compilers can include it. I am sure that people could use a laugh before we all end up snowed in.) /goes back to lurking

Hello! And thank you for leaving such a lovely comment - it was a very nice surprise to get :)

If you ever get a chance you should definitely read Tales of Brave Adventure, the first half is Robin Hood and the second half are the Arthurian legends. Although, I should warn you, she takes a rather sanitised approach to some aspects (Guinevere and Lancelot are just playing chess together in the evenings) but then, I think any other version would have shocked my 8 year old self!

Anyway, ignore me rambling on - I'm really happy you found it and enjoyed it!! I blame my beta, Vensre, for giving me the idea with how hilarious she found the illustrations, and I had great fun making up a story to fit with our Merlin, Arthur, Gwen, Morgana and Lancelot ( ... )

If the snow keeps falling for a few more days I might actually get to it. I have very fond memories of her books.

Guinevere and Lancelot are just playing chess together in the evenings
Wow, that's.. an interesting way of putting it. Normally, I'd try to find a second meaning somewhere but somehow I don't think there is one.

Maybe I will crosspost it to merlinxarthur or something?
You should, if Vensre doesn't mind. I think people would enjoy it, it's a lovely fic.

(it's not like anyone else wants him, that's for sure)
Oh, I don't know about that. He seems very dashing and a brilliant conversationalist to boot.
