I purchased a Philips DVD622/37 around April of 2006, and had trouble with the player to begin with. I casually brushed this off, due to the fact it would play my DVD-Rs and not my DVD+Rs, despite the fact that the advertised compatibility included DVD+Rs and DVD-Rs. Furthermore, I own a Philips DVD642 (2 yrs), a Philips 5.1 system (4 yrs), and a Philips/Magnavox 25" TV (5 yrs), and all three are going strong. I've never had to deal with customer service, though. If you do plan to switch, Toshiba is one of the best companies out there, IMO.
