Very nice, although I worry that there's a hidden meaning to Snape's memories that I am failing to decode. I love Neville's descriptions of his past, his relief at getting through a year of teaching & the extreme oddness of the party, pixie dust and all. I must admit that I'm getting hints of Neville/Snape here, but it's probably just my wishful thinking ;-)

Heh. As I was telling SR below, every year I write a fic about Snape--a character I love but can't seem to wrap my head around--that's essentially about his elusive motivations. Doesn't always make for good fic, but it's very therapeutic for me.

Never doubt your instincts on slashy hints! *smile* Thanks for giving this one a try. M.

This was a very beautiful story. I think my eyes leaked a bit. I would have been touched that Snape wanted to remember Neville. In his own way, it is very moving.

In his own way. That's the essence of it, isn't it? Thanks for reading! Maggie

Oh, see, soft I tell you. ;)

Your Neville is quite sweet, though he is in canon as well.

I tell you, I don't know what's happening, if it's the biological clock or what, but suddenly everyone just seems so cute. What started off as a grim fic about Snape wound up as an extended cheek-pinching session with Neville. Thanks for reading! M.

I think it might just be age. I'm much softer on everyone and everything than I was even two years ago.

Heh. That's ambiguous, isn't it? Every year I write a Snape story that is basically about my inability to deal with him as a character and understand his motives. Doesn't always make for good fic, but it's always very therapeutic for me. Thanks for your comment! M.

Within an hour Professor Vector was dancing on the headmaster’s desk, and Armando Dippet was singing, and Professor Dumbledore was trying on Dilys Derwent’s lace collar, and Professor Trelawney had predicted the rise of another Dark Lord, and Professor McGonagall decided that sufficient fun had been had by all.

I loved this part to a ridiculous degree. ♥ And oh, the image of Neville dancing at the end there is just gorgeous.

No one like McGonagall to call an end to a party, hm? And dancing Neville is totally movie!canon, but it's grown on me anyway. Thanks for giving this one a try! M.
