I am continuing to like how you're handling the suspicion. It's just as heart-breaking, but it's a different take that works very well. And the romantic in me is vaguely reassured by the idea that at least Remus and Sirius parted on good terms...

I'm glad it's working for you! This started off as a kind of intellectual game--how do I get this cast of characters from Hogwarts to Godric's Hollow while taking the friendships and romantic partnerships seriously?--but I'm amazed at how reluctant I've been to ruin the R/S relationship. I'm a little worried I've taken the thing a little too far; you'll have to tell me when it's all over. Thanks for continuing to read and comment! Maggie

Well, I'm terribly biased myself: I hate the idea of R/S suspicion and miscommunication. I'm not terribly fond of suspicion and miscommunication among any of the friends, even Peter, but it bothers me more in my pairing. But I do think that it would have set off warning bells even in my head if it didn't work.

Me, too. Peter's actually even a little harder for me to handle, though I have more personal affection for S/R, because he deteriorates so much in the books. There's only so much you can do to set this all right. (sigh) Maggie

that goodbye kiss between R and S is just so beautiful. I like that you have Remus going into hiding, it makes sense how they might suspect him if they can't actually see/communicate with him.

this is one of my alltime favourite fics. I always come back to it.
