I love this, the subtle description of how Sirius's guilt and hopelessness are alleviated by the grace of friendship. Lovely!

Ah, it took me 800 words to say what you did in 12! Thanks for reading, sweetie. M.

Heh. Modest ambitions for a quick fic--but I did finish! I should learn something from this. Thanks for reading! M.

I've read this a few times and I'm still not quite sure what to say. Just yes, I guess. This is them, with the angst and the humor and the deep friendship, and this is why post-Azkaban will always be my favorite era for them.

And grace, yes. Yes. Have you read He That Believeth in Me by lls_mutant? There are a few lines in there that touch on a very similar theme, and that reduced me to tears in the context of the fic:

Suddenly, Remus opened his eyes. "Sirius," he whispered. "I'm not your consolation."

"What?"

"I'm not your consolation for the life you wanted, and I'm not your salvation from what you've done."

Sirius understood. "No," he said. "No. You're not." He reached up and cupped Remus's cheek. "I'll find my own consolation, and Harry is my salvation. You... you are my grace."

God, this pairing kills me.

"He That Believeth in Me" is such a unique and powerful tale. And one of the examples of the case that not all of the fantastic R/S stories were written in the first wave.

The lines that you quote here have never left me since I read the story last year.

I left a comment at the love post for this ficlet but I'm trying to think of something else for here....

It's one of the most powerful fics I've read in any fandom. Those lines have never left me either!

Ah, S, I sat down and tried to figure out how to express what I felt about this pairing, and that's exactly what I was aiming at. Thank you.

Thanks for the link. I actually *haven't* read He That Believeth--I adore L's writing as a rule (she's one of the people who got me into fandom), and I know this is a particularly powerful fic just from what folks have said about it (see below!), but I'm so anti-religious I just couldn't do it. But it's interesting to see that we were thinking about similar themes!

Anyways, again, thanks for reading! M.

Ooh, that is lovely. Bonus points for making me warm to a second-person narrative, which no lesser writer could've achieved. ♥
