I'm the last to the party, I'm sure, but just in case anyone else has come in late, the
giant Remus/Sirius post of love is this way, chez
imochan. Drop by and enjoy the R/S love! I wrote a tiny ficlet for it, which I'm going to repost below.

Ah, it took me 800 words to say what you did in 12! Thanks for reading, sweetie. M.

And grace, yes. Yes. Have you read He That Believeth in Me by lls_mutant? There are a few lines in there that touch on a very similar theme, and that reduced me to tears in the context of the fic:
Suddenly, Remus opened his eyes. "Sirius," he whispered. "I'm not your consolation."
"What?"
"I'm not your consolation for the life you wanted, and I'm not your salvation from what you've done."
Sirius understood. "No," he said. "No. You're not." He reached up and cupped Remus's cheek. "I'll find my own consolation, and Harry is my salvation. You... you are my grace."
God, this pairing kills me.

The lines that you quote here have never left me since I read the story last year.
I left a comment at the love post for this ficlet but I'm trying to think of something else for here....

Ah, S, I sat down and tried to figure out how to express what I felt about this pairing, and that's exactly what I was aiming at. Thank you.
Thanks for the link. I actually *haven't* read He That Believeth--I adore L's writing as a rule (she's one of the people who got me into fandom), and I know this is a particularly powerful fic just from what folks have said about it (see below!), but I'm so anti-religious I just couldn't do it. But it's interesting to see that we were thinking about similar themes!
Anyways, again, thanks for reading! M.
