The One With All The Books...

Jan 05, 2009 20:02

I finally exercised some semblance of willpower today and put Richard Dawkins' The Selfish Gene back on the bookstore shelf, where it shall remain until I have finished The Ancestor's Tale and The Devil's Chaplin, both of which (I almost wrote 'whom' there, ack!) I have yet to read. Soon my lovelies, soon...(and it's a bloody small bookstore, I'm ( Read more... )

I did finish Hydra today. I adore it to pieces! One of the best sci fi books I have read in a long time. I don't want to spoil it for anyone, but the unanswered questions at the end are an itch... in your ear...that when you stick a q-tip in, you have to push it in so far it's like 1/8th of an orgasm...wait, what?

...That kind of itch. :P

Best book description evar.

I still haven't heard back from Amazon, but now there's an email I have that was marked read (which was not read) from the 23rd of Dec from Amazon stating that I had cancelled my order. I never did such a thing. Ugh! And if they've stuffed up, then there's still nothing I can do about it because they now don't have any copies left. When I ordered they still had 3. :(

Well, I will rummage around and see if I can find that spare copy (I might have given it to the snowplough guy who is my Best Winter Friend Who Must Be Appeased At All Costs Because OMGWTFSNOW!!, so I can't guarantee), in case nothing else pans out for you.

Amazon is not on the Good Company list these days, it seems. So sad because the One Click purchase process thing is cracktastic.

Oh wow, that's very nice of you! I will let you know what happens.

As for Amazon, I've never really had a problem with them before this. I buy dvds from them because dvds are cheaper in the US than here, so if you're buying a box set or something not available in Australia, it usually turns out the equivalent or cheaper than if I purchased it here. So far I've been lucky with the SG novels getting them through an Aussie company, but they don't have any left.

First of all, LOVE your description of Hydra... now if I can just make my way through the other books... (I still haven't really gotten into Roswell - Winter break turned out to be more busy then intended!)

I've been trying to hunt down Siren Song myself, since I know a few people who are desperately trying to get their hands on it (yourself included). Haven't had much luck, but I will say that when I was in the Borders in New Orleans (a bookstore that nearly had me orgasmic with it's size!), I searched Stargate (always do...never know what can be found!). And Siren Song came up on the database...said it wasn't available in the store, but could be ordered. Now I just checked the Borders website, but it didn't come up with anything.

Maybe this weekend I'll check out my Borders here... see what they've got.

Roswell is my absolute favourite, it has all of the players and it's everything that Continuum had the potential to be.

My brother has been helping my like whoa to find Siren Song online (it's his visa debit card I was borrowing), but I don't want to keep bugging him anymore about it, so I've given up.

My local Borders occasionally have a sprinkling of SG novels on the shelves, but nothing for the moment, and they're not all that good at ordering stuff in, I'm still waiting 2 years for another book I ordered through them *sigh*.

Well, I very much enjoyed Continuum (since it was essentially the last SG-1 thing we'd be getting for while). But I am liking where Roswell's going. Now I just need to find the time to read it more steadily!

I'm still keeping my eyes out for Siren Song... I might be able to find it.

Two YEARS?! Holy fuck - that's crazy long and insane! It calls for the Pony icon to be used!
