Any takers? I've whipped up a complete board with cards, money etc to scale available to anyone who wishes to download the files and print it out. This was very much a labour of love and something I really wanted to share and make accessible to the fandom.
Nice, eh?
I started by designing the centre of the board in PaintShop Pro and then made each individual square separately before putting them all together to make the entire piece. The properties are well known planets SG-1 frequented, the 'railways' are Earth's ships, utilities are Earth bases etc etc. 'Go' is Earth, instead of jail you go to Hadante, 'free parking' is the Alpha Site... The board is 50cm x 50cm (19.7in), printed out on high gloss paper at Officeworks for $12 and glued onto a $2.50 thin piece of MDF. In fact the entire thing only cost about $30 to make, all materials included, which is a decent price for a board game. The rest - cards/money I printed at home and even with my high end printer did not use all that much ink.
For the title deed cards/Ark of Truth cards(community chest)/Destiny cards(chance), I used cheap knock off glossy photo paper from the $2 shop. It's a good thickness and gives a really professional look. The naquadah (money) was printed on matte photo paper, still thin, but stronger than regular printing paper.
Instead of houses and hotels, I have Hat'aks and Asgard ships:
These are pieces from the original Stargate board game I'm sure a fair few of us have lying about because the instructions are bat shit crazy. :P I spray painted these silver to compliment the board. If you don't have the game, get creative with making your ships, some tin foil or balsa wood would work great!
And lastly the playing pieces. I mulled over what to use exactly, but ultimately I went with some little pebbles, again spray painted silver and wrote the names of SG-1 team members + Thor (because Thor is awesome) to make 8 playing pieces:
You can download the entirety of the game here, which includes the board, title deed cards, money, Ark of Truth & Destiny cards - back and front, rule book and original PSP files if you wish to have a tinker yourself. (excl. ships & player tokens obviously).
Had a game earlier and it was loads of fun!
