Right. See these here symbols? They all represent a certain sound. So...this one stands for 'a', this one for 'buh' and so on.

*starts talking you through the first part of the alphabet*

Just try the first few of the alphabet. We'll get them learned, then we'll move on, we won't try to learn it all at once.

*covers up the rest of the alphabet so you can focus on the one letter at a time*

I've got an idea for a different way of doing this but I'll need some time to set it up so let's leave it for now, okay?

Hey, what's that face for? It's okay. We probably just need to try a different method, that's all. Different teaching methods work for different people, it's nothing to get upset about.

I'm just a bit disappointed. I didn't think it would this tough to learn this thing. All the other kids learned this stuff easily. Even Miril, who's only a toddler, could learn this stuff in no time!

You will learn. EVERYONE can learn to read, it's easy, you just need to find your groove. I'll make up some letter and word flash-cards and we'll try that way. My mun swears by them.

I mean...Pfft, Legolas can read. You're WAY smarter than him. ;)

Yeah, but when? Maybe I'm just too young still to learn this stuff. After all I'm only four and a half...
