I'm not going to be around much today. Will someone take notes for me, please?

I'm fair...embarrassed. And a bit under the weather. I'll feel better tomorrow.

[Oh hai, this is Daine. If you spy her- and manage to catch up to her- she's going to be somewhere around the edge of the Forbidden Forest, looking forlorn and surrounded by a large crowd ( Read more... )

Dick saw Daine on the edge of the Forbidden Forest and walked over.

"Hi," he said, offering a small smile. "Everything all right? You sounded upset in the journal."

Daine looked up from the surrounding animal group, and tried to smile.

"I'm just a bit...out of it today, is all. Do you want to sit down?"

It wasn't really an answer to his question, but she hoped he didn't mind.

He'd figure it out, but he was happy to sit down next to her for now. "What happened?"

"I was going crazy, apparently." She shuffled her toe a bit, watching the squirrels surround her sniff it curiously.

The animals will be fine.

[She's avoiding your question.]

Yeah, they kinda chewed on my clothes, but 13 kept them in line and stuff.

What's wrong?

13 must be good at that- I'm sure she gave them some Southern charm, from the way she speaks to me.

Just...upset with myself.

[She's able to snap out of feeling sorry for herself long enough to realize that the sheep is scaring Raivis. Which makes her feel guilty.]

Oh, yes! Please, Raivis, you don't need to hold onto the poor sheep if it's frightening you. I understand.

[Daine looks up from where she's sitting. She's surrounded by some squirrels right now, who are chattering away. She holds up a hand to stop them and tries a smile out for Sveinn. It doesn't look right.]

I feel like I've disappointed myself. Does that sound right?

[he doesn't mind the squirrels. though, they're a bit noisy, and he was quite relieved when Daine holds up a hand to stop their chattering.]

Yes, it does. [the smile just doesn't seem right...] I- I've disappointed myself a lot of times. [he shifted his gaze to the ground] You're...not alone. Don't worry about it. I'm sorry I couldn't offer better words...

[She sees the relief, and mentally tells the squirrels that she'll find them another time. They take off, happy to go back to their warm homes. Instead of silence, however, the birds flock in.] Oh bother. I'm sorry, Sveinn.

[She looks down at the ground, too.] It seems we all disappoint ourselves from time to time. At least I'm not the only one. They were fair words, don't worry about it.

What kinds of animals do you like? [A shift in topics would be good, she thinks.]
