OMG, Sue, I'm in tears. I don't know what to say. It's just awful when someone this young dies, never mind this way.
I have no comforting words, other than repeating what you said; hug your loved ones, tell them you love them. Cherish every moment.
Unfortunately, both my daughter and older son lost classmates in the past few years. One was an accidental suicide (he had tied a noose around his neck, hung himself to reach that ultimate climax), and the other died of a brain hemorrhage while playing basketball. The town is still hurting from losing these two boys.
I say I love you to my kids every single time they walk out the door and every time I'm on the phone with them. I don't ever want to not say it, just in case.
Sadly, this is my son's second classmate to die. The first one dropped dead of a congenital heart problem after participating in the after school run club. Two funerals before age 14! Very wrong.
My only silver lining here - after the visitation on Thursday, my son came in and gave his older sister a big hug and they talked for nearly an hour. Thumbs up for sibling bonding.
