Is anyone else confused by the phrase "shit-eating grin"? If I'd just eaten some shit, I don't think I'd be grinning.

I've always wondered about that one.

I figure it refers to either A) a brown-noser grinning obsequiously at the person he's sucking up to or B) an insincere fuck-you-type smile, i.e. you did just eat shit, and now some asshole is telling you you have to smile about it too.

Or the grin itself consumes shit. Either it is fueled by shit, which it eats, or it is so successful that shit falls into it and never comes out. Or both.
