Truth in advertising?

It strikes me as reflecting a cognitive dissonance or sorts to hear songs like "It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas" or "Walkin' in a Winter Wonderland" playing in stores and restaurants, when it's in the 40s or 50s (Fahrenheit) with not a flake of snow on the ground.

It's 75 here now and the christmas music is blaring constantly... I HATE IT SO MUCH!

For a country with a Christian minority, Japan is hung-ho about all things Christmas...

Homes and businesses are adorned with lights and Santa figurines, "Merry Christmas" signs are everywhere, and worst of all...

...the music. Elevator jazz covers, the most popular being Wham's "Last Christmas." I hate that song~

Oh, Christmas is a secular holiday to enough people that I'm not surprised it's big in Japan. And I agree with you about jazzy Christmas tunes. They sure don't fill me with a feeling of peace on Earth and brotherhood to all.
