i read a book like that once as a kid. i've always tried to find it, but can't remember much about the author or title. i'll google it and ask my sister if she remembers giving it to me.
It actually fits in with a concept that I want to explore, that existence isn't black-or-white (i.e. things either exist or they don't), but is a continuum, a swath of shades of gray.
Buying into that concept opens up such a world of possibilities for creepy-crawlies coming out of the woodwork.
