I'd be interested in hearing people talk about the IBM thing. I might be mistaken, but it seems like in order to get into an IBM ring, you have to be in the IBM, but in order to get into the IBM you have to have references from your local ring. Is that right? How do people get around that?
Hey now, I am not a member of the IBM, but I would say, if you want to join a ring, it is not like the Masons where you have to know someone.
Like the Oakland Magic Circle, just showing up is 90% of becoming a member. Show off a little. Talk about magic, show a little something you do. Ask about becoming a member because if they do not know you are interested, well then....
Guest are welcome at most rings. In fact, our ring encourages guest to attend. If it feels like a good fit , then join. But, you can be an IBM member without being a ring member. The proprietor of the local magic shop took care of getting my IBM ap signed when I first joined and it was another 15 years before I became a ring member.
