[ There’s a small redheaded boy seated on the edge of a Gryffindor-color-themed dormitory bed, peering down at the commuter with an expression that is caught between thrilled and incredulous. Beside him, his discarded robes are crumpled in a ball-apparently Jr. has little interest in them.Man, this is incredible. “After such a fall as

[ He grins a little sheepishly at that. He was trying to get things to fly around... ]

Huh. [ Then, teasingly: ] Did you use an actual spell or did you just whack stuff with your wand?
Reply
[ He's laughing but...he was really just whacking stuff, let's be honest here. ]

Hey, it's all in the swing, right?
[ But, leaning back on his hands, he quickly changes gears. ]
How long have you been here, buddy?

[ And judging by his excited grin, he's not mocking her. ]
Needles as in sewing needles?
Reply
Yeah, but I was hoping to learn how to convert smoke into daggers. No luck so far.

Hey, no worries. I bet you'll get the hang of it. Does sound ambitious though! ...and pretty damn cool.

[ A nod. ]
Guess so! Nice to meet ya, buddy. Hope you don't snore.

Heh, I'll do my best. The name's Axel, by the way. A-X-E-L, got it memorized?

[Jr. might be giving you an odd look, A-X-E-L...]
Yeah man. It's not that hard of a name to remember, heh.

[ here comes a Slytherin. He'd been wanting to view the lake from above, instead of below, which he can see quite clearly from the common room. his eyes pan from the glossy surface back to Jr. he's seen some of the stuff that floats around. doesn't look like this kid could handle it. ]

[ But the grin on his face as he turns around says otherwise. Linking his fingers behind his head, he studies the newcomer curiously before following Riku's gaze back to the lake. The grin widens. ]
There's a creature in there, [ he begins quietly, as if it was a secret. ] I've seen it skimming the surface in the distance. I wonder...what else lurks down there? Maybe it's time to build a Nautilus, huh?
[ Nautilus being a reference to Captain Nemo's submarine in Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea. Jr. does love classic novels, after all. ]

[ that grin on his face is so largely reminiscent of Sora he might look... a little far away. but when he begins to talk again, he's back. ]
A lot of stuff. It's not that interesting. Why would you build a shell, anyway?
[ classical reference: lost. sadly, other worlds don't seem to have the same sort of reading material. ]
Reply
Nah, it's not a shell. It's a submarine! Like an aquatic space ship, ya know?
[ Unless Riku doesn't know what a space ship is...Jr. plants his hands on his hips thoughtfully and then shrugs to himself. ]
How do you know it's not interesting though? Have you been down there?

The boy - younger than her, certainly - is a lion, she notes, as she always does when seeing that telltale red and gold, with some measure of wariness. But such does not temper her amiable tone, nor her smile.]
You seem quite unfazed by this, sir. [Which may or may not be true - time and a cautious eye will tell.] Are you familiar with this craft?
Reply
I'm no sir. Not here, at least.
[ He shakes his head. ]
What, witchcraft? No way. The idea of there being other worlds out there beyond your own? Yeah, that's not news to me.
Reply
[Not here, at least. She notes that with curiosity, but decides not to ask about his meaning.
Besides, his latter words are of more immediate interest.]
Is that not a form of magic in itself - [A moment, to correct herself on his address] - Jr.?
Reply
You might think that, but no. Magic doesn't exist back where I come from. Instead, we have science and endless stupidity. [ He wiggles his eyebrows and taps his temple with a grin. ] You got a name?
