Pre-Awards Announcement '13!

Jun 28, 2013 17:32

Ladies, gentleman, and all of those in between, I'm pleased to announce IT'S THAT TIME OF THE YEAR AGAIN

MAGIC AWARDS

YAY! As it happened last year, smaller fandoms will be bundled together into larger groups, super fandoms like Doctor Who and Game of Thrones will still have their own categories, and older or dwindling fandoms will be cut, to be included into the larger groups. We're creating a couple of new categories:
- Period Dramas, classified as such anything that is not set in current(ish) time (excluding future time, which will be classified as sci-fi);
- New Shows, for any tv shows in their first season without their own category;
- Movies; and
- Comics/Videogame.
- Disney/Pixar is being expanded to Animation, including everything that can't be classified as anime, which will go into the Animanga category.

This is our complete list:

Set Categories:
Best OverAll
Best Coloring
Best Cropping
Best Text
Best Minimalistic
Best Complex/Texture
Most Creative/Unique

Comedy Sitcom (Parks and Rec, Community, etc)
Teen Drama (Skins, Gossip Girl, Glee, etc)

Better ideas for new categories or fandoms are welcome, feel free to speak your mind and we'll listen to you! Please be aware that larger categories are specific for tv shows. If you have a Sci-Fi Movie (which could teoretically be classified both as Sci-Fi and Movie), it goes into the "Movie" category.

Nominations will only be open for one week. We will be taking 25 nominees from the technical categories and the standard 20 from the fandom categories through to voting. You can only nominate makers who have been active in the last three months, either by posting in their icon communities or participating in challenges. If you haven't posted anything since then and was nominated, you have until the end of nomination week to post and validate your nomination.

Our huge issue this year will probably be LiveJournal's ~super effective~ anti-spam measures, so I apologize in advance for any mistakes, lacking nominees, or if your comment doesn't go through. We'll be constantly checking each post to unmark any comments not passing the spam filter, but unfortunately we can't do anything about any suspended accounts.

We're also having a contact post where you can leave a note and contact a mod if your comment doesn't show up and/or is marked as spam. Other suggestions to circumvent this problem will be thoroughly appreciated.

Soon I'll be posting a schedule and pimping banners, so stay tuned. As always, your thoughts and comments are welcome and ask questions to your heart's content, we'll do out best to answer them!
