Gen 24, Luke 19:1-10

Genesis 23 24- I love the typology.

Isaac- a type of the bridegroom.
Rebekah- a type of the bride, who loves the bridegroom even though she has not seen him, she only knows what the servant says.
In this case:
Issac is a type of Christ.
Rebekah is a type of the church, the bride of Christ, the church loves Christ before it has seen him.

The bit of scripture you're referencing is Genesis 24. 23's about Abraham's search for a good burial spot.

But, regarding that typology, it is amazing. I've never thought of that before.

Bah, now you've got that song stuck in my head!

Zacchaeus was a wee little man, a wee little man was he.

It's sort of sad that we reduce such amazingly profound and complex Biblical stories to kid's songs. I saw a tiny book of Landon's that told the story of Jonah, and completely left out the fact that Jonah fled from God because he hated the Ninevites, who were hedonistic maniacs that likely would've murdered / sodomized him!

well, would you tell that part to a 6 year old?

if you did, you'd have to explain what all those words mean first...

Also, I forgot to say this in my comment... it amused me that you wrote this while listening to Humans Being, given its vaguely questionable lyrics. Way to redeem that music for Jesus!

it's probably not good, but I've been on a strange secular music kick as of late. Three metallica songs, this song, and two godsmack songs (serenity and batalla de los tambores, battle of the drums) all purchased recently.

My old stuff just isn't doing it for me, man.

the metallica songs would be: turn the page, whiskey in the jar, and stone dead forever all off of garage, inc.

I know 'Serenity,' but haven't heard of the others. Thankfully, though, the chorus of that song has replaced Zaccheus.

As long as you're grounded in the Word, I don't see a problem with listening to secular music. I think it's all about what you, as a believer, can handle. Some people can listen to Jay-Z and keep their faith strong, but others can only listen to Sandi Patti.

Actually, I'm suspicious of those Jay-Z fans.

It depends on the content, too. I love Audioslave's first record, and am convinced that an acoustic version of "Show Me How To Live" could be played on Sunday morning, as worship. He may not have written the lyrics with that in mind, but I see no problem worshiping as I consider the lyrics.

Plus, the video is just cool.
