In need of a weekend

Can anyone give me some advice on MP3 players? Although my old but reliable thing has been good to me I can no longer seem to update it. I'd quite like a bigger one anyway but they seem to be so expensive, so while I'm happy to go over to the Apple darkside, especially with 120GB IPods available, the prices just seem a little high for my liking. probably a bit late now, but you'll probably not find much over 32gb, as most of the big manufacturers have moved over to flash memory now, so the amount of disk-based players has dropped to a tiny amount. basically, youve got the choice of the ipod classic, or an archos media player, which does loads more, but is priced accordingly. there are still the odd no-brand players floating around on ebay/etc, but quality is (generally) pretty ropey.

i used to find 20gb was more than enough, as i would transfer a bunch of stuff to it (i had a sont nwa3000) then listen to it on random for a few months till i got sick of it, by which time it was ready for loading up with a different 20gb full of music. i'm now using my nokia n97 (32gb storage) as my main music player, it is doing the job quite nicely

Thanks for this. After buying an Ipod Classic (which didn't work. I nearly threw it out of the window) I ended up going for an Archos player which I loooove. It's so pretty. I'm not really interested in watching films and stuff but I was quite lucky with the price. The reason I wanted a new one was that my ye olde MP3 player was on its way out after three years and that was 20GB which I'd filled. I usually listen to full albums so I wanted to upgrade to something around 30GB as I thought that would be enough for me. So yeah, I'm pleased with what I've got for now.
