'Men reading fashion magazines, oh what a world it seems me live in...'

My God what is going on with this weather?! It's been raining for days and they're announcing flood warnings. Does Leeds flood? Or more importantly, do canals?! Specifically canals in Skipton at the bottom of my road?! The trains were awful this morning too. I've just seen Helen who said that she's just arrived into work because her's were so bad. I always used to think that I'd never have anything in common with straight guys but that not really true. It's just funny to think about.

That is quite funny, yeah. Though I wonder why you'd think this? I mean, we have a lot common even though you like boys and I like girls.

I don't know really. It could have something to do with circumstance more than anything. I mean, the subjects I've studied are more female dominated than male dominated and than, I guess at uni, it's just chance who you make friends with and I ended up making friends with the girls in the flat above me. So it's probably chance more than anything.

Are you perhaps a little wary of straight men? Initially, I mean. I think this can be an effect of growing up as a bender, where it's "straight" men who give you the most gyp. I found when I started uni I was most reticent with the lady-lovers... I think a lot of them thought I was a bit uptight and snooty. But, thanks to my good friend Mr. Alkie Holl, I relaxed a bit and got to know them.

Most of my friends now are straight guys. I think it worked both ways, though. Most of them had never really had any bent friends before. It's all about overcoming your preconceptions I think.

I went to an all boys school from 11 to 18 so I was mostly fine with lady-loving men. But since I went to university and found the company of ladies more enjoyable I now find I'm a bit 'wary' like you say of straight men. I'm not sure why it is. There's that irrational, 0.5% of me that initially sounds alarm bells, until I actually get to know the guy. Odd.

I think you're right really. I usually just assume that a straight man will have more of a problem with my sexuality than anyone else which is silly really. So it is just about overcoming preconceptions.

The tag 'straight men' made me go 'straight men! Oh what a world we live in!', which is one of my alltime favourite lyrics, just because, out of context, it's preposterous!

Well of couse it did, did you not see the title of the entry? I don't know why you find it so silly though. Men reading fashion magazines is a signal of the change of the times :)

I missed all the excitement about the floods in Sheffield because I was away. It was the main story on the news.

It's still on the news today! There's a village/town near Sheffield that's still underwater. Thnakfully, we're ok.
