The bottom line is I guess I have a date to the ball.

I asked Padma if she wanted to the ball, and she said "I suppose so."

She's probably still traumatized by the idea of going to a Ball with a Hogwarts boy. After all, she had a much better time with that bloke from Beauxbautons fourth year.
