There are griffins at the stables, but - [Mathy stuff that's beyond his mun, plus practical issues like how some are hostile to strangers.] - so it's better than being grounded, and there are some fringe benefits, but it's a limited way to get around. [And he doesn't mention the hummingbird.]

So, what are you thinking of? Lighter-than-air craft might be easier to start with.
