Draco woke up to an empty bed and a slightly sore body, memories of the previous night flooding his mind and getting a smile out of him as he buried his face in his father's pillow, inhaling deeply. His father's scent triggered a particularly pleasant memory, and Draco moaned before regretfully pushing himself up and off the bed.

After a visit to the bathroom -- where not even his tousled-haired reflection could dampen his mood -- he walked into the other room to be struck by the most wonderful smell of coffee.

"Good morning," Draco said with a kiss to his father's cheek before takinfhis seat. He had a coffee cup to his lips almost before he had sat down, and he barely repressed a moan as the rich flavour spread through his mouth.

Opening eyes he didn't remember closing, Draco put his cup down and smiled at his father.

Lucius smiled as he watched the obvious relish with which Draco imbibed his coffee. "You are addicted, I think."

He poured another cup for himself, well aware of his own preference for coffee rather than tea in the morning. The newspaper was pushed aside, and he directed his attention at his son. It was an important day today... Occlumency lessons. Lucius knew that he couldn't take Draco out of school like this too often, or it would look suspicious, but perhaps they could meet once in a while in Snape's office?

"Do you feel ready to start your lessons?"

"I am not!" Draco said as he poured himself another cup, and he couldn't help but snicker because he really was. By the time he finished eating a scone he was on his third cup.

"I do," he said with a nod at his father's question, and he was about to get up from his chair when he noticed a piece of parchment by his plate. He picked it up with a frown, wondering what it could be, but the frown turned to a smile as he read it. He schooled his features again as he finished, and though he was excited about his occlumency lessons and couldn't wait to get started, he didn't stand up just yet, instead passing the note to his father.

"What shall I tell him?" He asked, knowing his father would think this could wait, but also knowing he should check with Lucius what (how much) he should say before writing back, and he might forget if he left it for later. And maybe part of it was that he wanted to reply to Blaise as soon as he could.

Lucius read the note from young Zabini, and looked up at Draco with a faint smile. "He is quite fond of you, I think. Tell him that you will return tomorrow afternoon." He wondered for a moment if it wouldn't be better if Draco was transferred to Durmstrang now, while several other children were being pulled out of school. That would put Draco out of harm's way, and it would also be easier to meet with him to teach him Occlumency. But Lucius knew that Narcissa would never let that happen. The woman seemed unable to see where the real danger lay.

"However, it would be unwise to tell him about the Occlumency."
