Damn, it got colder every day now. Justin wondered if he shouldn't have stayed in bed. But he wondered that every morning and every morning he got up anyway. His body was so used to the procedure that Justin was sure he'd find his running clothes and the way out even if he were still sound asleep. When he rummaged around to find his scarf, he'd almost woken up Ernie, who mumbled some angry remarks about the noise in the dorm in the middle of the night, so he'd just gone without it. He could have sworn his scarf was where he always put it, but it seemed to have vanished.

Justin did his warm-up on the way to the big doors, so he wouldn't have to freeze. It was really chilly and he pulled the zipper of his running jacket up all the way and fumbled for his gloves. Good thing his mom sent the stuff in a big package.

It had been a while since he last met Dean out here and figured that the Gryffindor had given up running due to the falling temperatures.

He started his daily work-out with a light jog down the path he always took.

Dean could hear Justin before he saw him. The rhythmic light crunches of gravel gave him away. Well, Dean wasn't sure it was Justin, before he could see his faint outline.

He stopped and called out to make sure the other boy noticed him "Justin?"

Justin startled when he heard his name and his hand shot to the wand up his sleeve as he came to a halt. But the voice sounded familiar and someone who wanted to harm him wouldn't have called out to him first, would they?

"Dean? Is that you?"

"Yeah, it's me." He stepped closer so Justin could see him better. Not that it would be much better in this semi-darkness. That was really the worst about winter. There was no light, no colours, just grey in grey.

"Thought I'd not run you down this time around." He sniggered. "The ground is bloody cold and you'd probably freeze to death on impact."
