MI-5/Spooks
The DropRated G. It's hard to stop seeing hidden connections and secret flurries of activity beneath the placid surface of ordinary life.
Greek Mythology
this is not a chick flickRated PG. In which Hades awkwardly tries to woo Persephone to his side, while the Olympian gods offer unhelpful advice and prove they know nothing about love.
The Princess Bride (movie)
ParadiseRated PG. Fezzik's idea of paradise involves counting words. Inigo's idea of paradise involves alcohol. Lots of it.
The Quick and the Dead (movie)
RedemptionRated PG-13. Two years after she rode off with her vengeance satisfied, Ellen returns to Redemption. Ellen/Cort.
Rome (TV)
The AeneidRated R. What happens after the credits roll.
(The fic is much better than the summary would have you believe. The period details are particularly impressive, as are the characters' voices. Be advised that the fic is as graphic in places as the series was.)
State of Play (TV)
The Last Temptation of DCI BellRated PG. Solving the case is one thing; letting go is something else.
Wire in the Blood (TV)
Rumors, Non-Curry and the Cosmic Scale of ImportanceRated PG-13. He was thinking, and they'd finally made a break, and now was completely the wrong time, and she had no idea whether it was the right thing to do, but he was driving her crazy, and she needed to say something.
WKRP in Cincinnati (TV)
At the Top of the HourRated PG. Sometimes you report the news. Sometimes you are the news. And sometimes it's just better to play the record.
(If you remember the series as fondly as I do, then drop whatever you're doing and read this right now. Seriously, it evokes the series so well in style, tone, and characterization it could easily have been an actual episode.)
ETA: Recs for A-L fandoms are
here.
And, finally, a non-Yuletide rec:
Lois McMaster Bujold - Vorkosigan saga
Keep TalkingRated PG-13. Four times Cordelia stepped in for Princess Kareen as Gregor's mother. In her own inimitable way.
(Total Cordelia awesomeness this way!)
