A Game of Thrones

Nothing exciting, folks, except that I have decided to re-read the series. I have seen about 5 episodes of the series but not really interested at this stage; the books walk all over the series ( and that's saying something since I actually quite liked the series). I haven't read the books for about 3 years or something like that, and OMG I am so ( Read more... )

I have way too much time on my hands to read these days with a 45min train trip each way each day :D So I needed an epic, and one I know I'll like. I don't mind re-reading if I know the series is brilliant :)

You really should try hundred thousand kingdoms by NK Janesim (check that spelling) but the trilogy is fantastic. GRRM also recommends her trilogy if that helps at all ;)

I HIGHLY recommend them. The series is very good but the books are simply brilliant. They start off like a typical fantasy book but then....then the good stuff starts about 1/2 way through the 1st book and just keeps getting better and better. Arya and Bran are my favourites :)

I've heard it was a good story, but I don't like reading things where the author kills characters because somebody has to die :)

oh no it's not like that, the ones that are killed off are killed off for a very good reason. It's worth it, I swear :)

I have a love/hate relationship with GoT. I've only watched the first two series. A Vet I work with adores everything about them and keeps asking when I'll finish watching the series. It took me over a year to finish the series which is a record of slowness on my part.

The books are much, much better, honestly. There is, of course, all the sex and violence but somehow it's ... no as integral to the success of the story as it is in the series.
