Kichiku Megane (translation: The Brutish Glasses)

You are Katsuya Saeki, a 25-year-old salaryman who works for a small subdivision of a marketing company that's very close to going under. You're a complete pushover--you have no confidence and couldn't stand up for yourself if your life depended on it. You have a really sweet boss in his 40s and a friendly, outgoing co-worker about your age to stand up for you, which keeps work from being unbearable, but you suck at your job and at life because you're such a dishrag. The thing is, you hate that aspect of yourself, and you want to change--you just have no idea how.

One night, after a particularly bad day of work, you're drinking a can of beer on a park bench when a mysterious stranger comes up to you and offers you a pair of eyeglasses. He says they're your ticket to getting what you want, so you put them on. You feel something funny come over you, then everything goes black...and the next morning, you wake up to see a high school boy in your bed who says "Boy, Katsuya-san, you sure are rough...but I like that. Call me."

BWA HA HA HA HA!

So basically, these glasses flip your personality--instead of being a pushover, you become a sexy, dominating bitch. Of course, you're pretty freaked out, since you never thought of yourself as gay and you're afraid that maybe the glasses make you too aggressive...but you try them at work once, and you manage to browbeat a nasty boss at your parent company into giving your division a big-scale project, so everyone at work comes to respect you. So do you wear the glasses, or not? Is life better when you're aggressive, or can you embrace your submissive nature as long as you surround yourself with the right people? Is there any way to find a balance? Either way, it'd be nice to get that cute college guy at your favorite bar to hang out with you more since he seems like such a nice guy and...oh, there he is.

So this game is boy x boy, and there are all sorts of relationships you can get depending on how you play the game and if (and for how long) you decide to wear those Dominating Glasses: the nasty boss at the head company offers you bonuses for your company if you'll pay for it in sex, so you can either let him take advantage of you or put on the glasses and give him a taste of his own medicine; your friendly co-worker has been harboring a gay crush on you for a while, and when it comes out in the open you have to address it; the high school sex kitten you met that first night you wore the glasses wants another taste, etc.

Summary: boys between the ages of 18 and 42 getting it on with each other, oftentimes wearing suits (since the majority of the setting is at your company), and sometimes in men's bathrooms and on meeting tables after business hours; moderate-to-heavy BDSM with some of the characters, especially if you're wearing the glasses and you think someone "needs to be taught some manners"; a surprisingly interesting story about power plays and how one person being particularly dominant or submissive can bring out inner dominance and submission in the people around him. This game can be pretty brutal and amoral, but it's also a lot more interesting than other 18+ girl games. Really brilliant performance by Daisuke Hirakawa, who voices Katsuya both with his glasses and without and manages to sound like two completely different (and differently sexy!) people.

Bonus: the mysterious stranger who gives you the glasses has, obviously, some strange powers...and in a bonus section of the game, he gives you access to a "nighttime theater" that lets you play out a number of bonus fantasies (three-ways, eating whipped cream off other boys, etc.). The theater also includes the few scenes that made this game famous in Japan and over here: the ability for Katsuya without the glasses to exist at the same time as Katsuya WITH the glasses, aka his dominant side spanks his submissive side, and responds to protests with "Don't tell me you don't like this--I know you do because I'm YOU, stupid." It is pure hilarity.

If you want to see some game trailers, here's a pretty-much-safe-for-work one. And if you're not at work, and want to hear a crazy mixed track that gives you samples of all the voices in the game (but warning--it includes some of the, uh, sex noises so DON'T WATCH IT if you're at work), you can go here. What's that you say? You're not at work and you want a trailer that's both hilarious AND shows a few of the sex scenarios? Here you go.

Kichiku Megane: a game twisted and cathartic for any girl who's too well-behaved in real life to take sex when and where she feels like it. (Girl porn games are for good girls!...Kinda?)
