Pros Watch - Spy Probe

The last episode ever filmed… sob! For that very reason I tend to avoid this one, so it has been a long while since I last watched it.
The DVD says: “The death of a nobody… A group is assassinating retired spies. What can be behind this seemingly motiveless mission? Bodie and Doyle are to discover that things buried in the past aren’t always dead ( Read more... )

Lovely critique! I really like your take on things.

Williams proves he is MI6 by killing a tree.

That made me chuckle.

There are huge plot holes in this ep - why doesn't Williams care that Bodie is, as far as he knows, merrily shooting people left, right and centre, and the big one for me (after all, in the CI5 universe MI6 and MI5 are supposed to be totally ruthless and probably crooked to boot) - how does the strange Voice of Doom know that Doyle is a ringer, but has no idea that Bodie and Williams are? And wasn't it lucky that Bodie and Williams were paired, as well!
Gah.

Thank you for this - it has given me something to giggle over on a long and boring night duty!

Glad I managed to give you a giggle with my review, especially if I helped cheer up night duty!

Spy Probe needs a probe into it to examine all the plot holes. As you point out - why is Doyle discovered, if not Bodie and Williams? Why indeed... it is not explained at all who grassed him or why, it is before Dawson knows CI5 are involved, so... maybe we are supposed to cover our ears and la-la-la at that bit.

Williams proves he is MI6 by killing a tree.
Heh! I have always wondered about that.

Yeah, this isn't an episode I watch very often. Not enough of them together, and there is that general sense of weariness. And yet...as always there are some lovely scenes. I do love that boat ride. *g* But all in all...well, I'm rather glad that for me "No Stone" was always the last episode. *g*

Thank you for this! Lovely commentary, as always!

I guess killing a tree is like Doyle shooting target practice at those dummies - it all means ruthless somehow. Not sure how, exactly, but there are a lot of odd moments in this ep! The boat scene is good, but I can't abide with the weariness in this ep. For me No Stone is the ending as well *g*

Watching this particular episode makes me always a little sentimental. Knowing it´s the end of your favourite show and watching the lads for the last time doing their job isn´t easy, I tell you!

Oh I know, that is the worst thing with Spy Probe. And it's like everyone is tired in it too - I hate to think that it's because the actors themselves wanted it to finish. Not an ep I like to rewatch often, to be honest!

but you sail forever on in our fic!
Oh, but... but... now I wanna cry! That's just the saddest line, for some reason! (Admittedly I'm not having a good morning, but still... waaaah!)

On the other hand you gave me lots of giggles too - Even dummies check out Bodie’s backside. - Heeee! It's the look on its face, too! *g*

And hey - did you see Brian Clemens? I swear it's Brian Clemens doing a Hitchcock for his last ep!

Oh no! I actually considered whether to take that line you sail on forever in our fic out, as I didn't want to tug people's heart strings, especially not us - we all think as one! (sort of!) But it was there as I did the review, so I left it in... hope it didn't make you too sad (and now I have reminded you of it again - ack!)

So lets think of that even dummies check out Bodie's backside - the look on its face is priceless, isn't it? *g*

I enjoyed your rec more than I enjoyed this episode; at least you made me giggle. Not now Doyle, someone could see us! I was having thoughts along the same lines there - "While you're down there, Ray...."
There are some nice moments in the ep though. I rather like Doyle's little hissy fit when Bodie takes his time about stopping Williams, and the boat chase at the end is exciting too.
Have to agree with you about Cowley and Elizabeth Walsh; have you read Where The Worms Are by Pamela Rose? Walsh plays a major role in that story.

I am so happy my review made you laugh *g* And I am glad you were thinking the same sort of thoughts as me when Doyle was...um... rather close to Bodie's bits, at least in our angle!

I have read Where The Worms Are but not for a while, thank you for the reminder! It is one of my favourite fics actually, I really think everything about it is well done - probably my favourite bit is when Elizabeth works out B & D are in love before they do! *g*
