Christianity seems to me almost completely about what you believe. Buddhism is about how you practice - what you believe is of little importance. - comment on beliefnet's Buddhism section.

My maternal Grandma would have called that the difference between Churchianity and Christianity.

Of course, these are all interdependent. My practice shapes my beliefs, and my beliefs shape my practice. But really, no change takes place without bumping up against others.

I've been thinking a lot lately about how it's places between what seem to be opposites or conflicting positions that are the fertile areas. And that it's not entirely reconciling the "opposites" so they fully agree, or dragging one to the others' position, but respectfully allowing the creativity and possibilities to flourish that's the important thing about disagreements. Quakers call it "labouring together". It feels like permaculture of the soul.
